Cinthol Health Plus and Fortis announce a partnership initiative for post COVID-19 vaccine sensitization

The COVID-19 vaccination drive across India is picking up pace, thanks to the combined efforts of public hospitals and private healthcare providers. While people are getting vaccinated, they have many doubts and questions on post-vaccination hygiene and care. On the other hand, some individuals become completely negligent towards hygiene norms after their vaccine dose, believing they are completely immune. Acknowledging these concerns and to address them, an interesting initiative has been announced.

Cinthol Health Plus, the health soap brand from Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), and Fortis Hospital Vadapalani have joined hands for a post-vaccine sensitization programme. The objective is to create awareness around post-vaccine precautions, do’s and don’ts while encouraging citizens to keep following hygiene norms even after the vaccination is done. The week-long pilot of this programme has already started at Fortis Hospital, Vadapalani (Chennai), where a post-vaccine kit will be given free of cost to those getting vaccinated at the hospital.

Being built on the strong association with protection outdoors, Cinthol Health Plus is a health soap that gives all-round protection with a refreshing fragrance. Fortis Healthcare, a leading private sector healthcare provider in India and across its network hospitals has been at the forefront of the vaccination drive with 24 hospitals across India engaged in administering vaccinations.

Cinthol Health Plus has conceptualized the post-vaccine sensitization kit along with Fortis Hospital, incorporating key hygiene messages that can inform and empower people. The carefully curated kit contains a COVID-19 booklet capturing important do’s and don’ts in an easy to understand language. The kit also includes safety and hygiene products, including Cinthol Health Plus germ protection soap, sanitizer, masks, gloves, face shield, face wipes, among others.

Commenting about the initiative, Sunil Kataria, CEO - India and SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), said, “Vaccination is the most important part to beat the COVID-19 virus. As a brand, Cinthol Health Plus has always inspired people to take on one’s duties fearlessly with its assurance of protection from germs. Our post-vaccine sensitization program is a humble step to contribute to the massive national COVID-19 vaccination drive. The strategic partnership with Fortis will facilitate a direct connect with individuals taking their vaccine dose.  We are confident that the pilot program in Chennai will lead to a positive impact and inspire many more such initiatives across cities.”

Speaking on the partnership, Dr. Sanjay Pandey, Zonal Director, Fortis Hospitals, Chennai said, “We are delighted to partner with Cinthol Health Plus to raise awareness among the public about the need of maintaining basic hygiene during COVID. In many cases, post vaccination, there is misconception in the minds of people that they can ignore basic hygiene – Sanitising, Masking and Social Distancing (SMS). While there is no doubt that the current two-dose vaccines will surely protect an individual from ending up in ICU or getting cured with minimal infection, medical experts are still in the process of learning and understanding the vaccine’s longevity, virus mutations and behaviour. Even before the vaccine, individual discipline protected everyone from the virus spread. Today, it is still necessary to maintain that discipline and follow SMS even after getting vaccinated. We sincerely request every individual to follow SMS principle to contain community spread and remain protected.”

Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report Reveals 74% Indian adults who have been in a romantic relationship admit to stalking their current or former partners online

  • 59% of Indian adults believe online stalking is okay if it to check on their partner’s physical safety or mental well-being
  • 46% of Indian adults admit they are more likely to stalk a current/former partner online if they know they will not get caught

NortonLifeLock (NASDAQ: NLOK), a global leader in consumer Cyber Safety, today unveiled new findings from its 2021 Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report. Conducted in partnership with The Harris Poll, the 2021 Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report: Special Release – Online Creeping surveyed over 10,000 adults 18+ across 10 countries[1], including 1,000 Indian adults, to assess consumers’ online habits and whether it diverges into cyber stalking. According to the report, 74% of Indian adults who have been in a romantic relationship admitted to “stalking” their current/former partner online without their knowledge or consent.

The most common forms of “stalking,” it was revealed, were reviewing the search history on their partner’s device (32%); checking text messages, phone calls, direct messages, emails or photos on their partner’s device (31%); and tracking their partner’s location through a location-sharing app (29%) – all without their partner’s knowledge or consent. Furthermore, 26% said that they used their knowledge of their partner’s passwords to access the latter’s devices and online accounts, while 25% used an app to surreptitiously monitor their text messages, phone calls, direct messages, emails, or photos.

Among those who had stalked a current or former partner, 39% said they wanted to make sure they were safe physically and/or mentally; 36% said they wanted to know what their partner was doing; while 33% claimed they took to online stalking when they found out that their partners were doing the same to them.

For most people, checking up on someone online is not a crime. However, this behaviour becomes problematic when it becomes a pattern, wherein technology is used to track someone’s activities," said Ritesh Chopra, Director Sales and Field Marketing, India & SAARC Countries, NortonLifeLock. The report suggests that almost half of Indian adults would be more likely to stalk their current/former partner online if they knew they wouldn’t get caught. It is therefore crucial for Indians to understand the difference between checking up and stalking someone.

It is interesting to note that 52% of Indian adults believe that it is harmless to stalk a current/former partner online; 59% believe that online stalking is okay if it is to check on their partner’s physical or mental well-being; 53% say that online stalking is justified if either or both partners have cheated or have been suspected of cheating; while 51% say they don’t care about being stalked online as long as they are not stalked in person.

There’s limited awareness in India about stalkerware or creepware; only 32% are familiar with it, 35% have only heard the name, while 33% are unaware of it. However, 54% of Indian adults who are currently in a romantic relationship believe that their partner is likely to download stalkerware/creepware on their device or have already done so. This belief is more pronounced amongst the younger generation (58% under the age of 40) as compared to the older generation (41% above the age of 40).

New Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report finds

New Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report finds 59% of
Indian adults fell prey to cybercrime in the past 12 months

  • As per the report, 1.3 billion hours were spent trying to resolve the cybercrime-related issues
  • More than 27 million Indian adults experienced identity theft in the past 12 months
  • 7 in 10 Indian adults (70%) believe that remote work has made it much easier for hackers and cybercriminals to take advantage of them
  • 52% of Indian adults say they don’t know how to protect themselves from cybercrime

NortonLifeLock (NASDAQ: NLOK), a global leader in consumer Cyber Safety, today released findings from the 2021 Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report, revealing that 59% of Indian adults have experienced cybercrime in the past 12 months. Cybercrime victims collectively spent 1.3 billion hours trying to resolve these issues.

The sixth annual Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report, conducted online in partnership with The Harris Poll, surveyed more than 10,000 adults in 10 countries including 1,000 adults in India and revealed that of the 36% of Indian adults who detected unauthorized access to an account or device in the past 12 months, around half of them felt angry (49%) or stressed (49%) as a result. Furthermore, around 2 in 5 felt scared (42%) or vulnerable (38%), and 3 in 10 (30%) felt powerless. Despite this, only 36% purchased security software or increased pre-existing security software as a result of detecting unauthorized access to their account or device. While 52% turned to their friends for help, 47% contacted the company that the account was hacked from for help resolving the issue.

“In a year of lockdowns and restrictions, cybercriminals have not been deterred. More Indian adults fell victim to identity theft in the past 12 months and most are concerned about data privacy," said Ritesh Chopra, Director Sales and Field Marketing, India & SAARC Countries, NortonLifeLock. "While the report suggests that many Indian consumers (90%) are taking proactive steps to safeguard their data, 2 in 5 still feel it is impossible to protect their privacy (42%) in this age or say they don't know how to do so (42%). It is therefore crucial for consumers to seek expert advice and take active measures to safeguard their online privacy."

Remote working could be making Indians feel more vulnerable to cyber threats

The study reveals that 7 in 10 Indian adults (70%) believe that remote work has made it much easier for hackers and cybercriminals to take advantage of people. About two-thirds (66%) said that they are more worried than ever before of being a victim of a cybercrime. Similarly, 63% of Indian adults report that they feel more vulnerable to cybercrime than they did before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Despite these vulnerabilities around half (52%) say they do not know how to protect themselves from cybercrime, and even more (68%) say it is difficult for them to determine if the information they see online is from a credible source.

Identity theft and online privacy

Over 2 in 5 Indian consumers (45%) have experienced identity theft, with 14% impacted in the past year alone (up from 10% in 2019), which means over 27 million Indian adults experienced identity theft in the past 12 months.

Most consumers (60%), whether they have experienced identity theft or not, are very worried that their identity will be stolen. While 65% do feel they are well-protected against identity theft occurring, some appear less prepared to react if it were to occur, particularly older generations; 52% of all adults say they would have no idea what to do if their identity were stolen (60% among those aged 40+ vs. 50% among those under 40). Importantly, more than two-thirds (68%) wish they had more information on what to do if their identity were stolen.

Most Indian adults are concerned about data privacy (75%) and want to do more to protect it (77%). In fact, 76% are proactively looking for better ways to protect their privacy and 9 in 10 (90%) have taken steps to protect their online activities and personal information, nearly three-quarters of whom (74%) say they have done so due to changes in lifestyles and work environment since the pandemic began. Some of the most common steps taken are making passwords stronger (43%) and limiting information shared on social media (36%).

Cinthol launches new TVC for their

Cinthol launches new TVC for their iconic brand Cinthol Original
~The film gives a fresh new take on helping communities ~
This year has pushed businesses to their limits and have forced many to rethink the way they approach and strategize their business. For Cinthol, a brand that has a rich legacy of more than six decades, the new normal posed a new set of challenges. Being a brand that’s built on strong association with protection outdoors, it had to readapt when the meaning of protection itself was being redefined.

The new Cinthol Original TVC, perfectly captures the sentiment of the times, while not losing elements of communication that have made it the iconic brand that it is. For instance, everybody’s favourite Dr. Amma is back and this time, she is joined by her journalist daughter, an essential worker herself. The film celebrates the sense of keeping one’s community before oneself, which is sure to strike a chord with the market it is intended for.

In the film the Daughter reports from the ground about how the city is slowly coming back to life and applauds the Tamil spirit, while Dr. Amma is worried about her protection. But the daughter assuages her mother’s concerns by assuring that, she has learnt about protection and selflessness from her mother.  The film concludes with the mother-daughter duo going about their daily lives fearlessly, and selflessly by placing their trust in Cinthol for their skin protection.

Sharing his thoughts on the new film, Mr. Sunil Kataria, CEO – India & SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), said, “Cinthol is among the iconic brands that we have at Godrej Consumer and the Cinthol Original soap enjoys a very strong affinity with its consumers in South India. 2020 has made market innovations happen at a rapid speed, made us reinvent our strategies, shoot campaigns at home, be more agile and execute new product launches within months. With this new and improved approach, we wanted to come out with something that would help connect with our stakeholders in a meaningful manner, so, for this new TVC, we have re-defined protection which is the core brand value. The film helps to convey the brand’s core proposition and we are optimistic that our audience will enjoy it too.”

"Amidst the pandemic situation, there are so many frontliners who are putting society over self. This Cinthol Original ad narrates the story of Doctor Amma and her journalist daughter, both frontliners. The daughter assuages the mother's concern of her protection by telling her that she follows her mother's advice of putting society over self and protecting her skin with Cinthol. The ad carries forward Cinthol's legacy of being a doctor recommended brand, while at the same time paying a tribute to the workers on the frontline," said Anu Joseph, Chief Creative Officer, Creativeland Asia

The film was conceptualised by Creativeland Asia and directed by Rajiv Menon.

Godrej Consumer Products Limited - Pre Q1FY21 Update

This update provides an overall summary of the operating performance and demand trends witnessed during the quarter ended 30th June 2020. This will be followed by a detailed performance update, post the approval of 1QFY21 financial results by the Board of Directors.

1QFY21 quarter was an unprecendented period due to the spread of Coronavirus pandemic across the globe, impacting all the geographies of our operations in the early part of the quarter. We at Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) have been working on a safety first principle, ensuring that our employees and business partners are safe and are taking all necessary precautions to control the spread of Coronavirus.

While we did see impact of lockdown in the early part of the quarter, we displayed strong agility in ramping up the production and resolving logistics challenges. We also leveraged techonology, strong relationships with our channel partners and were agile with feet on ground to meet the end consumer demand.

The demand trends were mixed for the categories and geographies of our operations. In India, resurgence of Household Insecticide category continued with strong underlying consumer demand. We did witness strong momentum in the Hygiene category, however saw muted demand in Hair Colour and Air Freshener, which were temporarily impacted by the lockdown. We expect close to mid single digit, volume driven sales growth in the quarter.

In Indonesia, in spite of disruptions caused by Coronavirus, we expect close to mid single digit constant currency sales growth. We are witnessing strong demand in Household Insectide category and strong traction in the Hygiene category. In GAUM (Godrej Africa, USA, Middle East), we expect sales decline in early twenties, in constant currency terms.

Amidst disruptions caused by Coronavirus, most of the key countries were in standstill mode in April and early May resulting in sales loss. We have seen strong recovery from mid May and June across most of our markets of operations. Within the ‘others’ geographies, the performance in Latin America is expected to be steady in constant currency terms.

However, in INR terms we expect the performance to be weak. Performance in SAARC countries continues to be steady. At consolidated level, we expect absolute sales to be marginally lower compared to the base quarter in INR terms.
