on 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th& 6^th of January 2019

Chennai 17^th December 2018: Village Ticket brings the pride of cultural and traditional essence, the village themed setup once again toChennai. Village Ticket is a joint initiative of Brand Avatar and the Grand Catering Company to honour the three pillars of the Village Life – the Farmers, the Artisans and the Cooks, who help in preserving our great tradition and culture, fighting the onslaught of the so-called modernity! Village Ticket 2019 event to be held on Jan 3,4,5,6 at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, OMR Chennai.

Speaking on the launch press meet of the 2^ndSeason and commencement of the Celebrations, Brand Avatar’s Founder and CEO Mr Hemachandran said “The success of the first edition prompted us to consider making it a regular event, which would serve as a reminder to the City folks of their roots, customs and traditions, by re-familiarising them with the food items, traditional sports and arts, and the farming practices and produce”. This is sought to be achieved during the Village Ticket event by inviting and honouring

(a) the farmers who have created positive impact through traditional farming methods

(b) the cooks who have passionately retained the diverse spice and taste of the village food and

Mr. Thilakarasu, Managing Director, Grand Catering Company mentioned that he was proud and privileged to be bringing this initiative in association with Brand Avatar to the people of our City. Coming from the food background and to do full justice for such a traditional event like Village Ticket he has done detailed research on the menu and incorporated them for three different sessions Gramathu Virundhu, Kari Virundhu and Kalyana Virundhu.

Chief Guest Mr. Pandiarajan, Minister for Tamil, Tamil Culture and Archaeology, Government of Tamil Nadu, launched the initiative of Brand Avatar and Grand Catering Company in organizing a celebration of this nature to honour those responsible for preserving our culture. It brings back nostalgic and traditional village experiences. Having been present during the 1^st Edition as well, the Minister mentioned that the people of Chennai experience the festival and ensure the next generation is well informed to carry the tradition forward.

Nalla Sandhai, by the Nalla Keerai Founder Mr. Jeganathan which recently saw more than sixty thousand people walkin to the expo and bought the natural fruits, vegetables, rice, oil pulses and many more. In village ticket Nalla Sandhai will also be present to offer different varieties of organically grown greens, organic oil, pulses etc. The whole idea is to directly connect the farmers to “The people of Chennai”, so they become both the producer & the seller.

Everyone gets an opportunity to try their hands on planting, weeding, harvesting on 1 acre of land.

The 4-day Village Ticket event from 3^rd to 6^th Jan. 2019 will not only be catering to various palates with 3 different categories – Gramathu Virundhu (Lunch Buffet from 12 noon to 3 p.m.)– both Veg and Non-veg with 48 delicacies), Kari Virundhu (Non-veg dinner) and Kalyana Virundhu (Veg dinner) both with 32 delicacies (from 6.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.), all of them in Banana leaf.With an opportunity to the city people to try their hands at more than 20 exciting village games like Uri Adi, Archery, Live Pottery and so on. Artists from villages will also be performing various traditional shows like Karagattam, Silambattam, Mangala Vathiyam, etc. from 5 to 10 p.m. There will be a lot of stalls dishing out various food items including take-away’s like pickles, savouries, sweets, from the village heartlands from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.!
