Goa BJP Govt faces flak for unemployment, water scarcity

Goa BJP Govt faces flak for unemployment, water scarcity, unreliable electric supply and bad roads in Shiroda, as 1000 residents sign petition for responsible governance

Residents of Shiroda, including people from Panchwadi, Bethora and Borim came together on one platform to strongly criticize the current BJP government for various problems plaguing the constituency like unemployment, acute water scarcity, unreliable electricity and very bad roads.

Led by Congress Seva Dal South District President Diya Shetkar, Seva Dal State Media Co-ordinator Flynn Remedios, Shiroda Block President Sunil Sawkar, local Congress leaders Manorai NaikMhalu Naik, Hemant Samant, Nilesh Gaunkar, Sushant Gaokar and others, who went door to door in the Bethora area meeting residents, nearly 1000 residents have signed a petition demanding immediate solutions to water, road and electricity problems in the area.

"The candidates from various political parties come begging for votes during election time, but after the elections are over, they disappear. This time, we want solutions before they come asking for votes. Let the candidates from various parties repair the roads and provide solutions to water scarcity in the area and only then ask for votes, said Pascal Rodrigues of the Shiroda People's Forum.

Residents pointed out acute water scarcity, unemployment and financial problems as their main problems plaguing the area and protested that the earlier MLA has done nothing over the last 10 years to solve these problems. Other problems include very irregular electric supply to most parts of the constituency, no street lights, zero maintenance of roads with potholes and rough roads dotting the entire area and very bad mobile connectivity with absolutely no mobile network in places like Nirankal, Panchwadi, parts of Karai, etc.,

The Goa Congress Shiroda Block has launched the massive outreach program Jan Sampark to reach out to each and every household in the constituency. The aim of the program is the reach out to the individual voter and understand his/her problems minutely and collate data on the issues faced by the people so that the candidate can prepare an appropriate response and give solutions to the people while campaigning in the run-up to the by-polls
