Max Life Insurance achieves an all-time high Claims

 Max Life Insurance achieves an all-time high Claims Paid Ratio of 99.35%

  • Paid 19,922 death claims worth INR 885.57 crores during the Financial Year 2020-21

Max Life Insurance Co. Ltd (“Max Life/ “Company), today announced that it has paid 19,922 death claims worth INR 885.57 crore during the Financial Year 2020-21. With this, the Company has achieved an all-time high individual death claims paid ratio of 99.35%, which also becomes Max Life’s new ‘Bharose Ka Number’+.

In line with the Company’s focus on becoming a digital-first insurer, Max Life has deployed predictive analytics-based underwriting models and robust fraud management strengthened by the digitization of forensic controls. This has enabled Max Life’s claims paid ratio to improve from 97.81% in FY’17 to 99.35% in FY’21.

Reiterating its commitment to customers, Max Life has steadily and consistently improved its claims paid ratio in the last five years, surpassing the remarkable 99% mark consecutively for the past two financial years. Since its inception till Mar’21, the Company has paid INR 4123.57 crores towards death claims to 1,32,868 policies.

Bringing greater agility, innovation, and customer delight amidst the pandemic, Max Life has strengthened digital servicing initiatives to deliver contactless, paperless services and enable more self –serve options. The Company has also introduced WhatsApp for customer servicing, integrating an AI-based chatbot - ‘Mili’ to serve customers round the clock. This has helped Max Life handle more than 40 lakh service queries on its digital platforms in FY21, and significantly decrease the turn-around time in servicing performance by up to 50% from 2020.

 Max Life Insurance Launches ‘Max Life Saral Pension’ plan, offering
Guaranteed Financial Protection Pre and Post Retirement

  • Product also applicable for customers who plan for early retirement

Max Life Insurance Company Ltd. (“Max Life/Company”), today announced the launch of ‘Max Life Saral Pension’ (UIN: 104N119V01), a Non-Linked, Non-Participating Single Premium, Individual Immediate Annuity Plan. A simple, immediate annuity product guaranteeing a regular stream of income in one’s golden years, this plan offers customers a chance to maintain their lifestyle pre and post retirement with the assurance of guaranteed income as long as the policyholder lives. 

The product has been launched at a time when a large section of the society is showing an inclination towards securing their future financial stability. According to the findings of Max Life’s recent survey India Protection Quotient 3.0’* in association with KANTAR, it was revealed that in the backdrop of Covid-19, around 52% of urban India is saving for ‘retirement/old age security.’

Commenting on the launch of the product, Prashant Tripathy, MD & CEO Max Life Insurance said, “Our latest offering, ‘Max Life Saral Pension’ plan is in line with IRDAI’s vision for insurers to introduce a simple, immediate annuity product that can offer apt and standardized features for an individual’s post-retirement financial convenience. We hope that this much needed and impactful product will help Indians achieve financial independence, and enjoy a comfortable lifestyle during their retirement years.

Available to customers in the entry age group of 40 to 80 years, there are two options available under the policy. i.e. single life and joint life annuity. ‘Max Life Saral Pension’ further offers customers the flexibility to choose from any of the four annuity payout modes available - monthly, quarterly, half yearly or yearly. The product also offers a ‘Surrender Benefit’ – an option to surrender on diagnosis of Critical Illness - if the annuitant or spouse or any of the children of the annuitant is diagnosed with any of the covered critical illnesses as specified (under the plan), then the annuitant will have an option to withdraw 95% of the purchase price (Single Premium*) as surrender benefit.

Under single life annuity, a fixed income guaranteed at the policy inception will be paid to the annuitant throughout life; income payment will cease on the death of the annuitant and 100% of the purchase price shall be paid to the nominee on death of the annuitant. Under the joint life option, a fixed income guaranteed at the policy inception will be paid as long as at least one of the annuitants is alive. Income payment will cease on death of the last survivor and death benefit, 100% of the purchase price shall be paid to the nominee on death of the last survivor (annuitants).

**“Premium” here refers to “Purchase Price” or “Single Premium” which is defined as the lump sum premium amount paid by the policyholder at the inception of the policy excluding the taxes if any

Max Life Insurance Company Ltd. (“Max Life/Company”), today announced the launch of ‘Max Life Saral Jeevan Bima’, a standard term life insurance plan, designed to provide financial protection to customers alongside simple, easy to understand policy features. The same is a non-linked, non-participating, individual pure-risk premium life insurance plan.

Available to customers in the age group of 18 to 65 years, Max Life’s Saral Jeevan Bima plan offers a minimum sum assured of 5 lakhs and maximum sum assured of up to 25 lakhs for a policy term ranging between 5 years and 40 years. ‘Max Life Saral Jeevan Bima’ further offers customers flexibility to choose between premium payment term options of regular pay, single pay and limited pay (with 5 and 10 year pay options); and multiple premium payment mode options i.e. annual, semi-annual or monthly payment.

The Max Life Saral Jeevan Bima comes with the Company’s steadfast commitment towards customers, with which it has achieved a Claims Paid Ratio of 99.22% during FY 2019-20. As a continued promise of trust, Max Life has paid off 15,342* claims received in FY 2019-20. This demonstrates the Company's commitment to being there at the ultimate moment of truth that defines a life insurer’s relationship with its customers.

According to the findings of Max Life’s recent survey ‘India Protection Quotient 3.0’ in association with KANTAR, it was revealed that 33% non-term plan owners across urban India were unaware of term plan availability and believed ‘high premiums have to be paid’ for it, which served as a barrier in their term plan purchase. The new ‘Max Life Saral Jeevan Bima’ will offer simplified financial protection to customers.

Max Life Critical Illness and Disability Rider’ offers customers protection from upto 64 critical illnesses, and has a cover under which one can protect themselves or their loved ones. It also comes with a flexible payment option wherein one can opt for limited pay or regular pay option as per the base plan. The rider can be attached to 11 of Max Life's existing products ranging from term plans and saving plans to monthly income plans, and more.

 Available exclusively with the rider, ‘Max Fit Program’ is a wellness app with features such as a wellness assessment score, medicine reminder, daily health tips, digitized access to all health reports and a wellness calculator for illnesses such as diabetes, heart diseases, stress, anxiety, etc. Recording a minimum of 50,000 steps on the app can accumulate one Healthy Week in a week*[1] and depending on the number of Healthy Weeks accumulated, the life insured is eligible for a discount (upto 10%) on rider premium at the time of renewal.

 The rider has 5 distinct variants to choose from– Gold, Gold Plus, Platinum, Platinum Plus and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) variant – with each covering a suite of pre-listed critical illnesses (minimum 22 and maximum 64 critical illnesses covered). It also offers cover for as long as 67 years (up to age 85). The rider has flexible payment options and can be attached to 11 of Max Life's existing products*[2].

The Rider SA is payable on a valid TPD claim during the Rider Coverage Term, subject to rider benefit being in-force.

  1. Gold variant: a suite of 22 critical illnesses is covered (one minor, 21 major)
  2. Gold Plus Variant: In addition to a suite of 22 critical illnesses (one minor, 21 major), TPD is also covered
  3. Platinum variant: a suite of 64 critical illness is covered (five minor, 59 major)
  4. Platinum Plus variant: In addition to a suite of 64 critical illnesses (five minor, 59 major), TPD is also covered
  5. Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) Variant: TPD shall mean the occurrence of any of the conditions as mentioned in the rider as a result of accidental bodily injury, sickness, or disease

‘Max Life Innovation Labs’ is the life insurer’s flagship accelerator programme designed to engage with the startup ecosystem

Following the successful launch of its unique ‘InsurTech’ accelerator programme ‘Max Life Innovation Labs’, Max Life Insurance Co. Ltd (“Max Life”/ “Company”) is now expanding the programme scope to include distinct business challenges and bringing on board strategic ecosystem partners to provide mentoring and business support to startups.

Building upon keen response from over 70 innovative startups across and beyond the country, Max Life Innovations Labs is now expanding the scope of focus areas to include new challenges including speech recognition, document parsing, alternate to conventional medical tests and integrated financial view for customer. These are aside the earlier identified areas of intelligent data acquisition and processing generated from online/offline sources, customer engagement in health & wellness, customer engagement in personal finance & retirement planning, smart underwriting, intelligent agent/seller hiring, financial management and more. With a vision to maximise innovation, business teams at Max Life have identified additional use cases that will allow the participants to build scalable solutions by leveraging new age technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, internet of things, big data to facilitate greater novelty in the insurance sector.

Under this programme, Max Life is inviting disruptive startups and out of the box thinkers to partner with them in creating futuristic tech-based solutions for Max Life in a rapidly advancing life insurance industry. The selected startups will also get access to ecosystem partners in the program such as Startup India, AWS, Blume Ventures, Revstart, Venture Garage etc. The program partners will be integrated with the startup ecosystem and will bring immense value to selected startups. Program partners will also endeavour to support in mentoring selected startups with refining their business model, technology guidance, cloud credits, improving business pitch, early stage investment amongst others.
