Dr GOVINDAN RANGARAJAN,Director Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru has kindly consented to be the chief guest. Shri Bhaskar Bhat, chairman of the governing body, will preside over the function in the presence of the director Dr.(Mrs.) Mini Shaji Thomas. Complying with the COVID-19 protocols, the event will have limited dignitaries on the dais and will be streamed online.

NIT Tiruchirapalli Inauguration of MBA Program 42nd batch
The Department of Management Studies, National Institute of Technology Tiruchirapalli, welcomed the 42nd batch (2020-2022) of MBA students on 25th August 2020. The three day orientation program was marked by
various sessions and activities by reputed industry leaders. DoMS had a huge influx of students this year, despite the distress caused by the pandemic.
Considering the government guidelines, to ensure the safety of the students, the event was conducted virtually. Inauguration was graced by the Director of NIT Tiruchirapalli, Prof. Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas and
had Mr. Subramanian Natarajan Ezhil (Business Head, Saint Gobain) and Dr. Swaminathan Mani (VP and Head Analyst, Tech Mahindra) as the chief guests for the day.
The event was commenced on an auspicious note with a virtual lighting of lamp, which was followed by a welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. P. Sridevi. Dr. P. Sridevi welcomed the new batch of students and spoke about the evolution of the department. With increasing concentration on the managerial aspects of the industry in the recent years, DoMS has held its ground by focusing firmly on providing a holistic educational experience to the students.
Prof. Mini Shaji Thomas, greeted the students with the Presidential Address and shared her aspirations to establish NIT Trichy as a globally recognised institution over the coming years. Speaking of
DoMS, the Director emphasized the advantages of pursuing management degree in a multidisciplinary institution like NIT Trichy and the extensive opportunities available to interact with stakeholders of
other departments at NIT Tiruchirappalli. Adding on to the online classes, Director has shared about the enormous institute facilities made available via online for students such as library access for
e-books, cultural events, sports activities etc.,
The Chief Guests for the day, Dr. Subramanian Natarajan Ezhil and Dr. Swaminathan Mani, who completed their MBA at DoMS, addressed about the distinctive culture of the institution that sets it apart from the
other B-schools. Their observations regarding the impact of the pandemic across sectors and the way students should equip themselves to be industry ready was thought-provoking. Mr. Ganesh Mahadevan
(Director and Lead Consultant at Kanzen Institute Asia Pacific Pvt. Ltd.) and Mrs. Rajini Sriraman (VP, HR of Esskay Structures Inc.) were the Guest Speakers for the first day of orientation who set the tone
for the event with their refreshing insights about the corporate houses. Oerall, it was an enriching experience for the budding managers and entrepreneurs to understand and realize the wide-array of opportunities available at the very outset of their career.

Medical safety kit for the saviours of


This was initiated with the support of the Chairperson Hospital Committee Prof.N.Anantharaman and the Institute administration.
The Director Prof.Mini Shaji Thomas presided the event,along with the Registrar Mr.Palanivel, distributed the Medical safety kits to few frontline field workers.
The Director appreciated and encouraged the selfless service of the front line field workers and conveyed that the Institute shall continue to provide all the required protective gear for their safety.

precautionary measures advised,only 2 representatives from each department were invited with the HoDs. She also mentioned that the Institute is taking all measures to create awareness and take precautions to fight against the COVID 19 infection.
Medical safety kits contained the Immunity boosting multivitamin supplement _zinc and vit C as recommended by the TN health govt - one tablet to be consumed daily for 10 days,to enhance their immunity and in turn the campus immuNITy.
The kit also included ORS packet that can be used by the employees to re-hydrate themselves while doing service,in the hot weather when required.And also an additional reusable cotton face cover was provided for ready usage.

NIT Tiruchirappalli is proactively responding to the COVID-19

NIT Tiruchirappalli is proactively responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and making its best effort to provide support and solutions.
The Director, NIT Tiruchirappalli, Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas said re-usable 3D printed face shields are one such product developed at NIT Tiruchirappalli which are transparent screens that cover the face and help prevent infectious droplets from entering the eyes, nose and mouth. It is very much essential for front line people like doctors and nurses who are closely moving with COVID-19 patients, she added.
Dr.M.Duraiselvam, Dean (Planning and Development) handed over 100 such 3D printed Face shields to Prof.Dr.K.Vanitha, Dean along with Dr.R Yeganathan, Medical Superintendent,MGMGH,Tiruchirappalli. The Dean of GH, Trichy indicated the importance of wearing face shields together with face masks. She appreciated the efforts of NIT Tiruchirappalli and thanked the Director, NIT Tiruchirappalli for her initiative and timely help.
