 A SpiceJet Boeing 737 was chartered by a travel agent in Madurai on May 23, 2021 for a group of passengers for a joy ride post their wedding. The client was clearly briefed on Covid guidelines to be followed and denied permission for any activity to be performed on board. The approval for this flight was taken as a joy ride for the wedding group.

The agent and the guest passengers were briefed in detail, both in writing as well as verbally, on social distancing and safety norms to be followed as per Covid guidelines both at the airport and onboard the aircraft throughout the journey.

The group was repeatedly briefed on the safety norms to be followed by the operating cabin crew and advised to follow the protocols laid down by DGCA including restrictions on photography and videography.

Despite repeated requests and reminders the passengers did not follow Covid guidelines and the airline is taking appropriate action as per rules.

SpiceJet, your favourite airline now entitles you to make changes in your travel at least 7 days prior to the date of departure with its ‘Zero Change fee’ offer. The new offering allows passengers to modify tickets with one-time waiver of the charges without any hassle. Additionally, the airline has also introduced special discounted price for an array of add-on services such as seats, meals, SpiceMax and You1st.  

 

The offer thus aims to extend significant flexibility and cost savings to all its passengers in these unprecedented times. Under the new offering, passengers booking direct domestic flight tickets during 27th March, 2021 and 4th April, 2021 can enjoy a one-time waiver on the change fee for the travel period between 27th March, 2021 and 30th June, 2021. Fare difference will be applicable for flight changes and shall be payable by the customer.

 

Besides, passengers can also enjoy add-on services such as -- You1st preferred seats and meals at a nominal add-on fee of just INR 249 /- only. The offer is valid on bookings made via all channels including SpiceJet’s website, mobile site, Reservations, Airport Ticketing Counter, Online Travel Agents etc. Fare difference will be applicable for flight changes and facilitation fee shall be applicable for flight change requested through Reservations or Airport Ticketing Counters.

 

Passengers will be able to avail the waiver of change fee one time only. In case the flight is changed by customer for the second time, applicable change fee as per standard terms shall be charged.

 

Passengers can also enjoy the add-on services at discounted prices on booking made during the offer period. To enjoy the benefits, customers need to select the add-on services while making the fresh booking. SpiceJet is offering discount on its Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menu only. SpiceJet and WheelTug conclude agreement for 400 slots
of the state-of-the-art electric taxi system

SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline, has tied-up with WheelTug Plc for reserving 400 production slots for the state-of-the-art electric taxi system that will enable the airline in saving fuel, reducing CO­­2 emissions as well as noise levels, improve its fleet utilization thereby directly improving the company’s bottom line.

The innovative WheelTug system places high-torque motors in the nose wheels of the aircraft. Pilots control the aircraft themselves, performing ground operations without requiring tugs for maneuvers. By keeping jet engines off in tight areas, the airline will lower its emissions. Additionally, SpiceJet gate and stand operations will be faster and more dependable helping the airline eliminate unexpected long delays affecting the schedule on any given day.

“SpiceJet is a strong advocate for reducing carbon emissions. By inducting WheelTug into its B737 operations, the company aims to reduce the fuel burn during Taxi out and in,” said a SpiceJet spokesperson.

SpiceJet is the largest Boeing 737 operator in India.

Isaiah Cox, Chief Executive Officer, WheelTug said, "Signing SpiceJet at this time shows both companies are looking forward to a strong recovery for the industry as the world responds to the Covid-19 crisis.”

 SpiceJet introduces 24 new domestic flights

First and only airline to connect Ajmer with Mumbai 

·         Launches four new seasonal flights connecting Jaisalmer with Delhi and Ahmedabad

·         To connect Ahmedabad with Bagdogra & Bengaluru, Surat with Patna and Chennai, Guwahati with Delhi & Kolkata and Patna with Bengaluru.

·         New flights effective 19th February, 2021

SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline and the largest regional player, today announced the launch of 24 new domestic flights. SpiceJet will be the first and only airline to connect Ajmer with Mumbai and Ahmedabad with Amritsar reiterating the airline’s commitment to enhance connectivity between metro and non-metro cities.  

The new flights also include four new seasonal flights connecting Jaisalmer, the ‘Golden City’ of India, with Delhi and Ahmedabad. The airline will also launch daily flights on the Ahmedabad – Bengaluru - Ahmedabad, Kolkata - Guwahati and Guwahati - Delhi routes. Flights between Ahmedabad-Bagdogra-Ahmedabad and Chennai -Kolkata -Chennai will operate three days a week while flights from Patna will operate five days a week to Bengaluru and twice a week to Surat. Also, flights from Surat to Chennai will operate four days a week.

While the seasonal flights will operate from 12th February to 13th March, 2021, all other flights will commence operations effective 19th and 20th February, 2021.  

The holy cities of Pushkar and Ajmer are among the major pilgrim centers in India. The famous Ajmer Sharif Dargah of Sufi Saint Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti located at Ajmer attracts millions of people every year from India and abroad. Pushkar is one of the oldest cities in India. The city of Pushkar is home to the famous Jagatpita Brahma Temple considered to be one of the five sacred pilgrimage destinations for Hindus. The new daily flight from Mumbai will provide pilgrims and tourists a much better access to Ajmer and Pushkar. SpiceJet already connects Ajmer (Kishangarh) with Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. 

The airline will deploy a mix of its Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft on these routes.

Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet, said, “We are pleased to announce the launch of 24 new flights on our domestic network. After successfully connecting Ajmer with Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad we will be launching daily flights connecting Mumbai with Ajmer. SpiceJet will also connect Ahmedabad with Amritsar and we expect a lot of pilgrim and tourist traffic on this route.”

SpiceJet is celebrating the launch of new flights with all-inclusive one-way fares starting as low as INR 3963 on Ahmedabad-Bengaluru, INR 4080 on Bengaluru-Ahmedabad, INR 3377 on Kolkata-Guwahati, INR 5192 on Guwahati-Delhi, INR 3439 on Ahmedabad-Amritsar, INR 3430 on Amritsar-Ahmedabad, INR 5130 on Bengaluru-Patna, INR 5154 on Patna-Bengaluru, INR 3902 on Surat-Patna, INR 4104 on Patna-Surat, INR 5789 on Ahmedabad-Bagdogra and INR 5807 on Bagdogra-Ahmedabad.

The airline has announced an introductory promotional fare starting at INR 4143 on Mumbai-Ajmer and INR 4035 on Ajmer-Mumbai route.

Bookings are now open on www.spicejet.com, SpiceJet’s mobile app and through online travel portals and travel agents.

SpiceJet ties-up with Brussels Airport for

 SpiceJet ties-up with Brussels Airport for seamless delivery of Covid-19 vaccine between India and Europe and beyond

·         Strategic partnership will aid in the global mission of a speedy and reliable solution for vaccine transportation

·         SpiceXpress to provide air connectivity to carry Covid-19 vaccine pan India and internationally with proper temperature-controlled mechanism

SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline, today announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Belgium’s Brussels Airport for providing seamless transportation of Covid-19 vaccine.

As strategic partners, both SpiceJet and Brussels Airport Company NV will jointly work with the Government, pharma companies and forwarders to ensure a reliable ecosystem for vaccine delivery in a temperature-controlled environment. Besides, they will also work towards developing and strengthening a direct air link for SpiceJet with Brussels Airport.

 As part of this association, Brussels Airport will be SpiceJet’s first flight point for Europe. The airline’s cargo arm, SpiceXpress, envisions to provide rapid and secure transportation of Covid-19 vaccine from and to Europe and beyond with proper temperature-controlled mechanism under the MoU.

 Brussels Airport shall provide assistance to SpiceJet with regards to slots, networking contracts etc. to provide efficient and speedy solution for delivery. Brussels Airport has several years of expertise in the transport of temperature-sensitive products and has handled multiple flights carrying Covid vaccine recently.

 Ajay Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, SpiceJet said, “We are delighted to partner with Brussels Airport in our fight against the pandemic. This tie-up will help SpiceJet to seamlessly transport vaccines not only from Europe and beyond to India but also help Indian manufacturers export extremely sensitive drugs in a safe and controlled environment. We are fully committed and prepared to transport the Covid vaccine and assist in the biggest vaccination drive in the history of mankind.”

 Arnaud Feist, CEO, Brussels Airport Company said, “As Europe’s preferred airport for the transport of temperature-sensitive products, Brussels Airport, certified IATA CEIV Pharma, has more than 30,000m² of temperature-controlled areas. As from today, we have already shipped more than 10 million doses of vaccine from our Brucargo platform to destinations around the world. In this context, we are very pleased to be partnering with SpiceJet and to be able to offer our expertise for the future distribution of vaccines from India within Europe and beyond. Together, we will make our contribution to the solution to this global health crisis.”

 As part of its continued efforts to take up the responsibility of transporting Covid-19 vaccine to every part of the country as well as outside India, SpiceJet has partnered with GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo, Om Logistics Ltd., Snowman Logistics among others. 

 With a network spanning 54 domestic and 45 international destinations and a fleet of 17 cargo planes, SpiceXpress is capable of flying over 500 tonnes of cargo per day to both domestic and a wide list of international destinations. The airline has also tied up with global leaders in cold chain solutions offering active and passive packaging with dedicated equipment to perform seamless cold chain operations.

 SpiceXpress has the capability to transport extremely sensitive drugs, vaccines blood samples and medicines in controlled temperatures ranging from -40°c to +25°c. Besides, the airline also offers other benefits such as a network of warehouses equipped with deep freezers to enable change of cool packs and ground vehicles and containers to help transport sensitive cargo.

 Ever since the lockdown began, SpiceJet and its cargo arm, SpiceXpress, has played a critical role and worked relentlessly to ensure that the country’s supply chain remained intact. The airline has helped in the transportation of vital goods and medical supplies to all corners of India and the world. SpiceJet has operated more than 12,600 cargo flights since the lockdown began and carried around 1,02,000 tonnes of cargo. SpiceXpress has the capability of providing door-to-door deliveries to over 12,600 pin codes across India.
