OPPO Begins Production at New Turkish Factory Further
Enhancing the Company’s Global Manufacturing Capability

A leading global smart device brand OPPO has announced that its new factory in Istanbul, Turkey commenced production in May, enhancing the company’s global manufacturing capability and reinforcing its long-term investment in the region.

OPPO has been working closely with the local community. Opening the facility has helped create hundreds of jobs, supported the local economy, and boosted OPPO’s supply chain.

OPPO has grown exponentially to become the world’s fourth largest smartphone brand. Currently, they are also the only smartphone brand to have a factory built in Turkey upon receiving a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) certification, which allows the plant to manufacture OPPO’s products from scratch, rather than simply assembling ready imported components. The factory is the first of its kind to be built in Turkey, meaning that every product manufactured at the facility will truly live up to its “Made in Turkey” promise.

“The development of this state-of-the-art factory in Tuzla, Istanbul marks another important milestone in OPPO’s ongoing journey in the region. We are immensely grateful for the generosity and support from the local people regarding our business operations and plant construction. ”said Johnny Zhang, President of Central & Eastern European Region at OPPO. “With the new factory, we are in prime position to fulfill OPPO’s growing commitment to the local market and our loyal customers.”

Constructed in four months and located only a few miles from OPPO’s regional headquarters in Ataşehir, the 10,200 sqm plant employs approximately 700 staff, 99 percent of which are local Turkish citizens. Instead of traditional assembly work, this smart factory carries out the entire production process of smartphones through aSurface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing line, which features high levels of automation. In addition, the factory is estimated to provide approximately 10,000 employment opportunities from the supply chain perspective.

To meet the growing local demand, the factory is currently producing A Series smartphones, which are popular amongst Turkish consumers who value an empowering smartphone experience combined with elegant design, usability, and innovative technologies.

Having first entered the Turkish market in 2019, OPPO has achieved outstanding market performance across the region. According to IDC’s data, OPPO’s global shipments recorded over 60% year-on-year growth in Q1 2021. OPPO believes that the market potential of this region is very promising with its vibrant economy and population. The company looks forward to playing an active role in the local community and ensuring its products and innovations enhance the lives of users.

As a global brand, OPPO has built ten factories to date. Including factories in China, India, South Asia, Eastern Europe, and other regions to meet the growing demands for its smartphones and other intelligent devices. The Turkish factory represents the latest development in OPPO’s journey. Providing products and services to consumers across the world ensures that OPPO can continue to enhance its global presence and brand awareness.

OPPO India’s factory in Noida spread across 110-acre campus currently manufactures one smartphone every three seconds with its high-tech manufacturing prowess, innovative automation and state-of-the-art equipment,. To ensure seamless supply chain of smartphones to market, the factory stocks materials for over 1.2 million phones at any given point.

Established in 2016 the mega facility has steadily navigated the growth and success of OPPO in India. With over 10,000 strong workforce the factory produces more than 6 million phones a month during peak seasons. Each one of workforce at the plant undergoes a rigorous training schedule. This is designed to create a well-trained workforce equipped with technical skills and troubleshooting capabilities to operate the world-class plant ensuring value creation, precision work and quality management.
