Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh - TNEA and IEA - Maritime Skills Education Award
Ethiraj College for Women in association with Indian Economic
Association (IEA) and Tamil Nadu Economic Association (TNEA) organized a
national conference on Economic Development of India in Global Perspective on
27th and 28th of September.
Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit graced the
conference as the chief guest and honored the Chancellor of Vels University, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh with the
Maritime Skills Education Award.
Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh started a small college of pharmacy in 1992, with
36 students and 10 staff. In 25 years, he has established more than 25
institutions, serving more than 25000 students with 5000 staff, offering
education from Pre-Kg to Ph.D under the Vels Group of Institutions.
In 2008, he
became the youngest founder chancellor of a deemed to be university in India
and also the first educationist in India to offer maritime education in private
sector, since 1999.
