Hues
of Blue: Art & Music Festival – In Aid of Mental Health for All
The
Largest ever Exhibition of Performative and Visual Art at One Place
This
Pongal, there is one other major attraction for Chennaites, that combines art, entertainment
and social sensitization. WOW - Mind and Behavioural Clinic is presenting the
‘Hues of Blue’ – In Aid of Mental Health for All. An exhibition of the visual
art by the aspiring to the famous that deepens our understanding of Art & Mental
Health. The Visual Art festival is being hosted on 15th, 16th
and 17th January, at CSI school for the Deaf in Santhome. It will be
the largest event of its kind, offering workshops, exhibitions, performances,
awareness lectures as well as ‘live art’. Catering to all age groups, it will
bring together, artists, sculptures, musicians and the public in a unique
conversation about mental health, mental health care, and the way ahead.
It is the old saying that
‘A thing of Beauty is Joy forever’. We all know how a painting, a song,
a verse or a dance, can mesmerise us. Creative art has a profound effect on our
emotions. So it comes as no surprise that Art is a well established form of expressive therapy
that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical,
mental, and emotional well-being.
Hues of Blue, take this message of Art Therapy to
the people. It offers people an experience, to understand and engage with Art
in its rich and varied forms, while appreciating its therapeutic value. This
event will also help take forward the conversation around mental health by
situating it in public discourse. Visitors will get an opportunity not only to
enjoy the events but also to take part in creative work through enrolling in
various competitions as well as decorate their homes with art they can relate
and appreciate.
National award winning Artist
Viswam and Dr. Thara Srinivasan, Director of SCARF (Schizophrenia Research Foundation)
will inaugurate the Art Gallery and the Mind Museum. Other guests of honour,
who will grace the event, are Artist JK
(Jayakumar) , Artist Manohar, Artist Arunagiri, Artist Amal Mohan and
Artist Poster Eswar.
Programs include painting competition for
children, Workshops for all ages and others on fine arts, sculpture and
photography, Live Art, Art Gallery,
Sculpture, Dance, Music, Theatre, Street Magic, And Literature: Poetry,
Panel Discussion, Story Telling, Visual Art, Installation and Stalls for T-Shirt Designing, Games and Food.
WOW - Mind and
Behavioural clinic has over a decade
of experience in the field of mental health, taking pioneering initiatives to
spread awareness about mental health. Towards the objective of creating an
affordable mental health care ecosystem in Chennai, WOW has been successfully
running the 365 degrees programmes that offers, life skills training,
counselling, and psychological therapy for Rs 365 a year. Funds raised from
‘Hues of Blue’ will be used to support this programme and make mental health
even more affordable.
It will be a great opportunity,
this festival season, to participate in this endeavour, be entertained by an
ensemble of creative personalities, while also helping raise awareness about a
critical issue and aid in improving lives.
