From the picturesque Coorg comes a delightful cuisine that tells an interesting culinary tale of the Kodavas! Bringing these flavours to Buzz, the all-day diner at Vivanta Chennai, IT Expressway, is Chef Girish from Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa, Coorg, who has designed a spread that will delight food lovers.

For starters, try the non-vegetarian dishes like Koli chuttadh (chicken morsels marinated with spices and cooked in a charcoal oven); Sigdi meen fry (Chilli paste marinated prawns dusted with flour and fried) or the all-time favourite Pandi nallamallu barthad (Morsels of pork marinated in chili and spices and braised with rainforest black pepper); and vegetarians can try out Kari bale cutlet (Char oven roasted raw banana patties); Chakke cutlet (Raw jackfruit with local spices served fried); or Kummu nallamalllu barthad (Button mushroom  sauteed in black pepper).

The inviting mains include Pandi Kari, the classic Coorg style preparation of rich dark pork gravy finished with native broiled spice mix and kachampuli (local fruit vinegar); Yerchi barthad (Lamb cooked in pepper masala); and Pacha nallamallu sigdi meen curry (Fresh green peppercorn braised prawn gravy); while vegetarians can enjoy Baimbale curry (Kurba tribes recipe of  tender bamboo shoot); Toppu palaya  (local fresh spinach with garlic); and Kadmange kari (Sweet, sour and spicy wild mango curry).

Savour these with Kadambuttu (steamed rice flour dumpling); or Paputtu (steamed rice cake topped with fresh coconut). Or try their famous Pulao, Tarkari / Koli / Kori yerchi. Don’t miss the Kadagu more Kool (a south Coorg delicacy - a mishmash of rice, yoghurt, coconut & spices).

Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway & The Voice of Heaven celebrated 70th Republic Day of India and introduced the ‘The Great Freedom Fighters Chart’

FLAG HOISTING CEREMONY: To mark the occasion of 70th Republic Day, Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway & the non-profit organization, the Voice of Heaven celebrated the national day by hoisting the tri-colour flag at 08.30 AM on January 26, 2019 in the premises of the hotel. The ceremony was followed by singing of National Anthem by the children of the Voice of Heaven and associates of the hotel. General Manager, Mr. Divakar Shukla raised & saluted the National flag with great esteem & pride.

INTRODUCING ‘THE GREAT FREEDOM FIGHTERS CHART’: The ceremony was further graced by the children of the ‘Voice of Heaven’ who remembered all our great freedom fighters because of whom we could celebrate the freedom of India. They proudly presented ‘The Great Freedom Fighters Chart’ which includes the names of our prominent freedom fighters in alphabetical order.

The Ceremony was well-attended with the participation of around 100 people & was concluded by serving the breakfast with the theme of ‘tri-colour’ to all the attendees by hotel’s executive Chef of the hotel, Satej Saigaonkar.

Mr. Divakar Shukla, General Manager of Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway stated, “It is an honour for us to associate with the ‘Voice of Heaven’, the humanitarian organization to celebrate our National Day. The feeling of patriotism in these children is commendable. ‘The Great Freedom Fighters Chart’ is brilliantly created by the children & is a great way to pay a tribute & salute our freedom fighters. We all celebrated this day with full gaiety and fervour by releasing the chart, indicating prominent leaders for each alphabet.”
