Poonam Karekar Govekar Couriers Parcels of Garbage to

Poonam Karekar Govekar Couriers Parcels of Garbage to Karan Johar to Protest Dharma Productions’ Dumping of Biomedical Waste, Garbage At Biodiversity Hotspot in Goa, Thanks Kangana For Making Littering A National Issue

Goan actress, environmentalist and social activist Poonam Karekar Govekar Wednesday, couriered two gift-wrapped leak-proof parcels filled with garbage and waste to Bollywood producer Karan Johar to protest against the dumping of tons of biomedical waste and other garbage at a biodiversity hotspot Nerul in North Goa and the non-clearance of the same for several days in spite of protests by local residents of the picturesque village about 10 kms away from State Capital Panaji.

A local social outfit Lokhancho Ekvott had called upon Goans to courier garbage to Johar and Karekar took up the crying issue on behalf of Lokhancho Ekvott.

Poonam who has been agitating for cleaning of the beaches and country side, also thanked Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for highlighting the issue of littering and dumping biomedical waste at Nerul in Goa by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and making it into a national issue. She also lamented that the Goan local media and Tv channels in Goa, did not highlight the issue in their own State and it took Kangana to make it a national issue.

Poonam Karekar Govekar was shocked – at the least, seeing videos and images of how Bollywood producer and presenter Karan Johar’s company Dharma Productions had littered the picturesque beach village of Nerul with tons of biomedical waste, used PPE kits, face protectors, sanitary napkins, plastic plates and spoons, bandages and other garbage and did not bother to clear it up for days, even after local residents raised a stink.

Nikitin Dheer joins Rohit Shetty’s cop universe Sooryavanshi as a baddie

After playing Thangaballi in Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express, Nikitin Dheer will play a baddie once again in the filmmaker’s forthcoming cop drama, Sooryavanshi. This will not only be the actor’s second collaboration with Rohit Shetty but also with Akshay Kumar. Earlier, he had shared screen space with the Khiladi in Housefull 3.
Nikitin is all praises for Rohit Shetty as he gave him the memorable role of Thangaballi, he says,” I have utmost respect for Rohit bhai. I look up to him. I have immense faith in him as a filmmaker. He brings out the best in me. When I saw Chennai Express for the first time, I remember hugging him and crying like a baby. Thangaballi has been the best role of my career so far. I felt immense pride being part of such a wonderful film.”
Talking about playing an antagonist in Sooryavanshi, he adds, “Being a part of this cop universe created by Rohit bhai is an absolute privilege. Who can forget Jaykant Shikre (played by Prakash Raj), one of the most iconic villains of recent times, who received as much love as Singham. In Simmba again, the magic was recreated. That’s the beauty of this universe. The villains have left big boots to fill and I hope I can do a job that keeps the legacy going.”
Nikitin who is really excited to collaborate with Akshay says,”My father (Pankaj Dheer) did seven films with him at the start of his career. I remember watching him on set as a kid and observed the fire and passion he had. Then, I got a chance to work with him in Housefull 3 and it was a lot of fun. While that was a comedy film with a hint of action, this is an all-out action film. So, for me it will be like going to school and taking lessons in the craft from teachers. I can’t wait to learn more from him. The best part about working with actors of his calibre is that one walks away richer in values, work ethic and experience. I’m looking forward to it.”

At the end an entertained audience is all that matters

"At the end an entertained audience is all that matters" – Rohit Shetty
Rohit Shetty’s gearing up for his upcoming film starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, Simmba is slated to release tomorrow. While the trailer and the songs received brilliant response, the director has been busy promoting the film and has been immensely working hard to keep the viewers entertained.

The director recently spoke about his movies and the category of audiences that his movies carter to and lets his audience take the pride and said, “There is segregation when you talk about the kind of audience who come to watch my films. That’s what makes me successful. When I start writing a script and shooting it, all I keep in my mind is my audience. The people who come to watch my films are the family audience. If I were trying to prove a point, I would not have been here.”

Rohit firmly believes that the movies are often related to a common man’s lifestyle. Relating to the same, he adds, “There are people who will dislike what I do, but I know that there is an audience that loves my cinema. So, you have to come to terms with the fact that a certain section of the audience might not love your films. One can only hope that they like your films at some point. I deal with the problems of the middle class and that’s why my films are termed massy. I can’t solve their problems, but at least, I can entertain them. What I find hypocritical is, when someone curses in English, it is considered cool and not massy. However, when the same curses are in Hindi, the ‘massy’ tag is promptly added. I don’t fear my film being a flop, but I do fear losing the audience that loves my cinema.”

Simmba marks the debut collaboration of Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar and undoubtedly the fresh leading pair of Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan.

Reliance Entertainment presents, Rohit Shetty Picturez and Dharma Productions, Simmba is slated to release worldwide on 28th December, 2018.
