Vishnu Sudarsan, Partner at J Sagar Associates on Govt may extend Air India bid

Vishnu Sudarsan, Partner at J Sagar Associates on Govt may extend Air India bid deadline to 14 Dec; investors to get flexibility.

"The divestment of Air India is a welcome step on the part of the Government, both in terms of the Government's privatization goals, as well as to ensure continued competitiveness and quality of service in India's aviation sector.

The proposal to offer a degree of flexibility with regard to absorbing the debt is a positive development insofar as it would help allay investor concerns and revive investor enthusiasm.

Any decision to extend the bid deadline would be a good step, given that it would offer potential bidders sufficient time to effectively scrutinize the target, and to make well-informed and to make competitive bids" - Vishnu Sudarsan, Partner at J. Sagar Associates
