*G. Devarajan Master Award 2026 - First Edition*
The “G. Devarajan Master Award 2026” - the first award will be presented to renowned Indian Carnatic musician Padmabhushan Dr.T. V. Gopalakrishnan by Smt. Leelamani Devarajan, beloved wife of G. Devarajan Master.
G. Devarajan (1927–2006), fondly known as Devarajan Master, was one of the greatest composers in Malayalam film music history, whose legendary collaborations with Vayalar Ramavarma defined a golden era of cinema music and earned him numerous honours including the prestigious J. C. Daniel Award.
The event will be graced by celebrated South Indian music director Gangai Amaran.
Two rare musical creations composed by Devarajan Master during his later years — Choir and Shadkala Pallavi — will be presented on this occasion.
Sixteen singers who directly learnt from Devarajan Master and rendered his compositions will present selected pieces from the iconic Shakthigatha Choir songs.
In addition, “Shadkala Pallavi,” a remarkable creation that reflects Devarajan Master’s profound command over Carnatic music, will also be performed on stage.
The presentation will be by K. Krishnakumar, who personally learnt this composition directly from the Master himself.
The event is organised by the family and aspirants of late G.Devarajan.
