Nissan India has contributed INR 6.5 crore towards local communities, with a cash contribution to the Tamil Nadu SDMA, Tamil Nadu CM relief Fund and COVID-19 relief equipment to NGOs and hospitals. Additionally, Nissan Renault Financial Services has donated INR 1 crore to the PM CARES fund, leading to the total amount of INR 7.5 crores.

Over the last few months, and as part of the relief equipment support with the start of the second wave of COVID-19, Nissan India has distributed N-95 masks, PPE kits, oxygen concentrators, portable ECG machines, X-ray machines, pulse oximeters and nasal oxygen machines in Delhi NCR and Chennai. Additionally, in partnership with the World Community Service Centre, RNAIPL distributes cooked food packets to migrant workers.

By using cricket analogies to draw parallels between preparing for a match and preparing to fight COVID-19, the campaign hopes to amplify the message of safety by urging Indians to come together as the country faces one if its toughest matches yet on health and safety.

Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd. (BFIL), a 100% subsidiary of IndusInd Bank, today announced that it will bear the costs of COVID-19 vaccinations to inoculate over 28000 employees of the company to protect them against the coronavirus. As part of the initiative, the company will fully reimburse the vaccination costs to the employees as and when they receive the two mandated doses.

 

Speaking on the initiative, Shalabh Saxena, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, BFIL, said, “At BFIL, the welfare of our employees has always been our top priority. Through the COVID-19 outbreak, we devised comprehensive business protocols that ensured the health and safety of our entire employee ecosystem. Microfinance being a high-contact business, it was the courage and perseverance shown by our employees that helped us serve our customers without any major disruption. Covering the vaccine costs is just a small way of expressing our gratitude to them and as the government expands the vaccination drive, we encourage our employees to get themselves vaccinated for the well-being and protection of themselves and their family members.”

 

BFIL had taken several initiatives through the COVID-induced lockdown to support its employees and the local communities that it closely interacts with on a regular basis. During the lockdown, apart from maintaining stringent safety protocols at branches and offices, it also reached out to local government hospitals and provided free medicines while training and equipping frontline health-workers with protective equipment. In order to support next phase of government’s COVID-19 vaccination drive, State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to contribute Rs. 11 crore to the PM CARES Fund.

The fight against the pandemic is not yet over, and as a responsible Corporate Citizen, we consider it our duty to support the government's efforts to vaccinate all. Early last year, SBI had committed 0.25% of its annual profit to support the fight against COVID-19 and also made significant contribution in the form of supply of masks, sanitizers among others to the needy. Additionally, SBI employees in their effort to support the nation in the unprecedented times had contributed Rs. 107 crores to the PM CARES Fund.

L&T Construction Converts Healthcare Units

into COVID-19 Care Facilities

The Building & Factories business of L&T Construction has transformed established or under-construction healthcare units into COVID-19 care facilities across India. The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro, with its mission-oriented and fast-track approach, turned around large-scale healthcare infrastructure into COVID-19 care facilities in the cities of New Delhi, Champaran and Madhepura in Bihar, Puducherry, Diamond Harbour in West Bengal and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.  

The company has the capability to construct 300 bed hospitals in record three to four months. It is capable of quickly turning around existing or under-construction medical infrastructure into COVID-19 related facilities and transform large establishments like marriage halls, schools and hotel rooms quickly into isolation wards.

Commenting on the development, Mr. M V Satish, Whole Time Director and Senior Executive Vice President (Buildings, Minerals & Metals), L&T said, “We have ace engineering and construction capabilities, yielding a fast turnaround of healthcare infrastructure for COVID-19 care. This is another contribution from the stable of Larsen & Toubro to India’s fight against COVID-19 as the company believes in serving the nation through thick and thin. We will continue to accelerate our efforts to aid governments in providing prompt relief to citizens through critical healthcare infrastructure.”

The company has been delivering transformation of the following healthcare facilities:

JIPMER, Phase-III, Puducherry: 

The modernization of the old hospital and institute buildings has been done by L&T, while expansion of SS block and setting of screening OPD set up at JIPMER, Puducherry has also been achieved. The SSB Annexure block which was designed and constructed by L&T and handed over to JIPMER in 2019, was modified to meet the requirements of the state of Puducherry to treat COVID-19 patients. In the first floor, 50 beds were converted as isolation wards and another 100 beds in the second floor were converted into a special ward. Though the project is still not fully handed over to JIPMER, this fully completed super specialty block was immediately put into use.

Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi: 

Three floors of the L&T-constructed 850-bed super specialty, Safdarjung Hospital, have been converted for the care of COVID-19 patients at the request of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India in March 2020. As the number of positive cases and those needing medical treatment have increased, more portions of the hospital are being converted for COVID-19 care including the IPD block of Zone1. 75 beds on the 1^st & 2^nd floors have been converted into Isolation wards; in Zone 2, 425 beds on the 1^st, 2^nd & 3rd floors been converted into Special and General wards to diagnose and treat COVID-19 patients.

Indira Gandhi Hospital, New Delhi 

At the request of PWD, Delhi, L&T offered 200 beds of the half-completed 700-bed Indira Gandhi Hospital at Sector 9, Dwarka, as a quarantine facility. The entire ground floor and the first floor of the OPD block with 200 beds have been made operational in extremely quick time.

Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Champaran, Bihar

L&T has handed over the ground and first floors of the Government Medical Hospital in Champaran, Bihar to accommodate 150 beds as isolation wards to treat COVID-19 patients. The conversion took just 10 days for the L&T team amidst the nationwide lockdown. It includes an emergency ward with necessary lighting and toilet facilities, a medical gas piping system, a curtain track system, a temporary septic tank, temporary power supply from the Electricity Board and a separate RCC approach road especially for the COVID-19 block.

Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Madhepura, Bihar:

L&T is constructing the Government Medical College with an intake capacity of 100 students per annum and a 500-bed college-affiliated hospital for the Bihar state government. As per the request by the State Government, L&T is modifying a block of the medical college into a COVID-19 testing lab. This state of the art BSL-3 level lab will help the state government to tackle COVID-19 cases more efficiently.

West Bengal Medical College, Diamond Harbour, West Bengal:

In Diamond Harbour, West Bengal, L&T is designing and constructing a Government Medical College for West Bengal State Govt with an intake capacity of 100 students per annum. As per the request of the State Government, L&T is modifying a block of the medical college into a COVID-19 testing lab. This state of the art BSL-3 level lab will help the state government tackle COVID-19 cases more efficiently.

AIIMS Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh:

In AIIMS Gorakhpur, L&T is designing and constructing a Government Medical College with an intake capacity of 150 students per annum and a 750-bed Hospital for the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. At the request of the State Govt, Uttar Pradesh, L&T is modifying a block of the medical college into a COVID-19 testing lab which will again hasten the COVID-19 testing process.

IDFC FIRST Bank today announced that its senior management has volunteered to take a 10% cut in compensation in the current financial year 2020-21. Mr. V Vaidyanathan, MD & CEO, IDFC FIRST Bank, has voluntarily offered to take a pay cut of 30% in his compensation including Fixed compensation as well as all allowances. Mr. Vaidyanathan said, “Such pay cut forms part of the Bank’s austerity measures which start at the top. Further, we feel the pain our customers, big, small, micro enterprises and people at large are going through, and we also want to be empathetic to the situation.”

The management is reviewing the impact of the pandemic every day and is making all efforts to safeguard customer interest in line with its mission statement which recognizes the customer as its First Stakeholder. The Bank’s branches and customer service teams have been operating at near-to-full capacity with minimal reduction in services throughout the lockdown to meet its customers’ needs.

On the employee front, the Bank has honored all offers that were made to new hires before the pandemic, including all lateral hires as well as 550 management trainees. This is in keeping with the Bank’s philosophy of honoring its commitments in all circumstances.

The Bank also paid 100% of the variable pay to 78.2% of employees for the period pertaining to FY 19- 20 despite the arrival of the pandemic. Variable pay for FY 19-20 was cut more, progressively, for employees with greater seniority, and bonus for senior management was cut by 65% of the eligible amount.

IDFC FIRST Bank’s employees voluntarily contributed one day’s salary totaling Rs. 3.29 crore to the PM CARES Fund. In addition, the Bank contributed Rs 5 crore to the PM CARES Fund to support the nation’s fight against coronavirus. In addition, Mr. Vaidyanathan personally contributed Rs. 47 lacs to COVID relief, including Rs. 25 lacs to the PM CARES Fund for COVID Relief and Rs. 5 lacs for Chief Ministers COVID Relief Fund. Inclusive of employees’ contribution, the Bank contributed a total amount of Rs. 10.86 crore towards the COVID Relief related activities so far and continues its work in this area. A large number of these activities are centered in Maharashtra.

The Bank also launched a number of COVID relief initiatives that involved its customers and employees at large. These included Ask-for-Mask, Gaon-Gaon Mask, Shramik-Sahayata Program, Share-a-meal, Jaankari mein Samajhdari, COVID Warrior-on-Wheels, and Give India Foundation programs. 

Under these programs, the Bank has selected women borrower customers and is paying them at commercial rates for producing 3.5 lac masks which are distributed in their own rural and urban communities, providing cash support of Rs. 3000 to migrant laborers, paying select customers and NGOs for preparing and distributing meals for displaced workers, spreading awareness about COVID prevention through catchy videos in vernacular languages, and providing home-to-hospital-to-home car pick-up service for doctors and healthcare workers. The implementation of these programs is monitored at the highest levels at the Bank.

The Bank is committed to playing its part in supporting customers as well as vulnerable communities during this difficult period.

YES BANK reinforces its commitment to work with health authorities and the Government to support communities during COVID-19. Building upon the Bank’s previously announced support to the COVID-19 relief efforts, the Bank has partnered with Akshaya Patra to support its efforts to provide cooked meals to daily wage workers, migrant labourers and the low income & marginalized section affected by the current lockdown.

Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd. (BFIL), a 100% subsidiary of IndusInd Bank, has contributed 1 Crore Rupees to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund). The fund was set up in March by the Government of India to help fight the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis. Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India received the cheque from BFIL representatives at the North Block office in New Delhi yesterday. He appreciated the company for coming forward and strengthening the fight against COVID 19.    

In addition to this contribution, BFIL has been tirelessly working to help state governments in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka to get access to essential medical equipment like testing kits, PPEs, and other sanitation requirements and also train frontline health workers to protect themselves against the virus.

Chennai: ICICI Group today announced that it has committed Rs. 100 crore to support the nation in its fight against the COVID-19 outbreak. Of this, the Group pledges to contribute Rs. 80 crore to the ‘PM Cares Fund’ and Rs. 20 crore to state governments and local authorities in their efforts to battle the pandemic. The sum of Rs. 100 crore is being contributed by ICICI Bank and all its subsidiaries.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Sandeep Batra, President, ICICI Bank said, “ICICI Group has always partnered the nation—at the times of progress as well as in times of need. The outbreak of COVID-19 has thrown an unprecedented challenge to the nation and its citizens. It demands us to stand together and fight the challenge.

The Group will continue to serve the people who are at the forefront of the fight against COVID -19 pandemic.

ICICI Bank is also assisting the central government, state governments and municipal corporations in their efforts to collect donations digitally. The Bank has received mandate of collections for the ‘PM CARES Fund’. LANXESS India has pledged an additional INR 3 million for donation of material such as face masks, disinfectants, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps, groceries, etc. in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, around the areas in which its sites operate. Based on the local requirements, the material will be procured locally at each location and will be handed over to the respective Municipal Corporations and Government agencies.
