Here’s your chance to meet the young dynamic photographer from Mumbai, Ritesh Uttamchandani. He began his career as a photojournalist, having worked with The Indian Express, The Hindustan Times and also with the Open Magazine, to now become a freelance photographer. His work always led him to probe and report and travel to some of the most extraordinary places across the country and beyond. And now we're looking forward to having him here in Chennai to tell us more about his experiences as photographer and writer of his debut Photo Book, The Red Cat and Other Stories.
From telling us what the book is about, to collaborating the content and editing, choosing the right paper, deciding who to print with and how to pack and ship, he shares with us how self publishing and going solo can be overwhelming, but exciting at the same time. Come join us for this Artist Talk you wouldn’t want to miss.
"My book chronicles the Bombay of today. The city is an ironic place and addictive like a bad drug. It's so tough living here yet it provides the financial capital needed for the entire country but it is literally falling apart. Everyone here, and elsewhere in the world too, lives in the hope that their next day, will certainly be better! Photographed over the last 4 years with a mobile phone camera, the book is self-published (1000 copies) and sized as a square at 7 x 7 inches because the city began as a cluster of seven islands." - Ritesh Uttamchandani
