The first look of a beautiful Tamil movie titled ‘Vembu’, directed by debutant Justin Prabhu and produced by Golden Suresh and S. Vijayalakshmi of Manjal Cinemas was revealed by filmmaker Pa. Ranjith
‘Madras’ fame (Johny) Hari Krishnan is playing the lead character and Sheela Rajkumar is performing the female lead. Marimuthu, Jaya Rao, Pariyerum Perumal-Karnan fame Janaki and many familiar actors have performed pivotal characters in this movie. It is worth mentioning that the film also features real life rural stage play artistes. The entire film has been shot across the exotic locales of Krishnagiri.
A.Kumaran of Dhanush movie “Thangamagan” is handling cinematography for this film, and K.J. Venkatraman is overseeing editing works. Manikandan, who has worked with big names like Anirudh and Santhosh Narayanan is debuting as music composer with this movie.
Playback singers Antony Dasan, Thanjai Chinna Ponnu, National award-winning singer Sundara Iyer (Joker fame) and Kabil Kabilan have crooned songs for this film.
Speaking about the film, director Justin Prabhu says, “This is a beautiful realistic take on an individual’s life. How they step out of their family zones, and battle the societal odds, and how situations turn them into great personalities forms the crux of this story. This film will appeal to the interests of audiences from all walks of life. Vembu will be an engrossing treat for audiences of all age groups as well.
The film showcases the vital importance of a father, and a cousin-boy, who is a fiancé giving complete support and strength to a woman, who battles the pressures of family and society. This in turn creates a huge revolution and change in the society. We have tried projecting a theme and message that will protect the people in such a way that even police and Government cannot afford to.
I have earlier directed a short film titled ‘Kuppai Kaaran’ that is based on the daily lives of cleaners in the city. I have won an International award for this movie. I have worked as assistant in few important movies. Since, I am a person hailing from the village backdrops, I see and project things from the perspective of an ordinary man. All my movies will be based on socially responsible themes.”
