We at South Madras Cultural Association (SMCA) take immense pride and delight to present the 46th Annual Autumn Festival “ Sharadotsav” from October 9th – 13th Oct, 2024, the largest celebration in Chennai. SMCA is a body registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975. While we inaugurate the Annual Autumn festival, by heralding the Goddess of Shakti – Maa Durga, we add to the grandeur with gala events on all the days. These year’s highlights, to name a few, include :
Inauguration by honourable Governor of TN, Thiru R.N.Ravi, followed by performace by renowned singer from Kolkata, Sa Re Ga Ma champion, Ankita, on 9th Oct. evening
Dandiya night, assisted by professional dancers, along with the dancing sticks, on 12th Oct evening
Food carnival having all varieties of sumptuous food on platter on all the days
Various interesting competitions and prizes for all ages, and
Bhog (prasadam) for ALL devotees who attend this magnificent festival on 10th, 11th and 12th Oct.
Truly imbibing the quote above, by Swami Vivekananda, apart from the festivities which is intermittent, we stay relevant throughout the year with our charitable wing that is SMCA CHARITABLE TRUST, registered as a public Charitable Trust. Over four decades our trust has been open-ended in offering support to individuals and organizations in the areas of – Annadanam, Education, Health and Environment. It has been always involved in enhancement of socio economic living conditions of the marginalized and needy population of the society.
The Sharadotsav at SMCA brings together people from all walks of life, cultures, communities and states, into a bond of friendship and goodwill, thereby instilling the spirit of harmony and humanity.
