KFC hosts the Biggest, Baddest Burger Bash ever, right here in India!

The long weekend gone by was unlike any other. There was much buzz & excitement in burger-land as KFC India hosted the biggest virtual burger party of the year! KFC’s Big Burger Bash was indeed a party like no other as it brought together burger lovers (and some willful converts; for burgers like these who wouldn’t), popular social media stars, food communities, bloggers and consumers from across the country, to relish their favourite new Value Burges. 

Taking the energy quotient of the Bash a notch higher and adding more spice to the party celebrations was legendary actor & KFC fan Anil Kapoor. Anil shared his love for KFC burgers and posed for pictures with other participants at the Bash, in his iconic jhakaas style. With about 500 people coming together from across cities, this was indeed the first-of-its-kind and largest gathering of people coming together virtually for a burger party.

Sharing his experience of being a part of the Burger Bash, Moksh Chopra, Chief Marketing Officer, KFC India said, “KFC’s Value Burgers have been garnering much love amongst consumers since their launch earlier this year. In fact, Anil Kapoor’s epic dialogue from the campaign film has created much buzz on social and online mediums. We felt what better way to celebrate the love for KFC burgers than, by hosting the Big Burger Bash – a virtual party with a difference. We invited our KFC fans to come together and celebrate their shared love for burgers; while digging into some delectable burgers on the side. Having the legendary Anil Kapoor be a part of the Bash meant it wasn’t just the biggest bash of the year, but the most exciting too!”

So obviously I had to be a part of the year’s biggest virtual bash - KFC’s Big Burger Bash! I had such a blast enjoying KFC's Value Burgers with fellow KFC fans from all across the country. Indeed, it was a ‘jhakaas’ moment! This is the stuff epic parties (and patties) are made of!" said Anil Kapoor as upped the energy and star quotient of the Burger Bash.


The Value Burgers campaign that was launched earlier this year has been popular with consumers and netizens alike, with Anil Kapoor’s dialogue - ‘Agar ye bun tikki burger hai to mai Sonam Kapoor hu, moocho ke saath’ been recreated by many enthusiastic fans. In addition to drool-worth burgers, the Bash was also marked by participants’ displaying their quirky and witty selves, sharing their take on the now famous dialogue. While one participant said, ‘Agar ye bun tikki burger hai to mai Virat Kohli hu, clean shave ke saath’ another remarked ‘Agar ye bun tikki burger hai – to main basanti hun, vo bhi kam baato ke saath’; leaving Anil Kapoor and the other participants in splits. A group selfie with all participants posing with and biting into their burgers was just the high note the year’s biggest Burger Bash could end on. KFC India strengthens its Diversity & Inclusion commitment with ‘KFC Kshamata’

Pledges to double their women workforce and Special KFCs by 2024

 

 

Reinforcing its commitment towards gender & ability parity, KFC India today announced the KFC Kshamata program - a focused effort towards driving 2X Empowerment by 2024. Taking forward the brand’s global Diversity & Inclusion agenda, KFC India aims to bridge the gender and ability imbalance gap and increase the women workforce at their restaurants by 2X by 2024. Likewise, the aim is to double the footprint of Special KFCs, operated by hearing & speech impaired team members, by 2024. In addition, the brand would launch select, flagship Special KFCs across the country, that provide an elevated KFC experience for specially-abled team members as well as customers. These zealous program objectives are supplemented with a sharp focus on training, retention and progression of these team members into key restaurant leader roles; keeping with the brand promise of ‘Feeding People’s Potential’.





 

Elaborating upon the KFC Kshamata program, Samir Menon, Managing Director, KFC India, said “All-encompassing growth, with gender & ability parity, is paramount for any brand to help its workforce realize their full potential. With KFC Kshamata, the brand aims to have more than 5000 women team members and operate 70 ‘Special KFCs’ by 2024; including growing them into restaurant leader roles. The Kshamata program has hit the ground running, setting the right tone for driving the program objectives. The brand recently inaugurated an all-women operated restaurant in Hyderabad. With more than 15 team members, all women, including the Restaurant leadership team, this restaurant completely operates on woman-power! The TVC films for the most recent Value Burgers’ campaign were released with closed captioning to assist hearing impaired individuals in comprehension. It’s with initiatives as these that the legacy and beliefs of Colonel Sanders’ lives on - he firmly believed in extending everyone a seat at the table.

 

KFC India has been a pioneer in the category through their specially-abled program, employing and working with speech and hearing impaired team members since 2008. In addition, the brand has been credited with launching its first restaurant all-women powered restaurant in 2013; seeding-in empowerment at the grass root level. Later in 2017, the brand has also had woman delivery riders, a first for the category, breaking stereotypes and carving a niche with their unconventional career choices. The Kshamata program is equipped with focused strategies across varied functions as hiring, growth, communication, inclusion and retention to further a cohesive and progressive work environment.

KFC India to provide 1 Million Meals

KFC India to provide 1 Million Meals to Feed Communities in Need
Extends support to migrant workers and daily wage earners

KFC India today announced, that it has pledged to donate at least 1 Million meals to help communities in need during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. These meals will be provided to migrant workers and daily wage earners struggling to earn a livelihood and afford meals during the extended lockdown. Supported by the Yum! Foundation, KFC India will be funding these meals.

“Giving back is one of KFC’s core values. As a nation, we are all working collectively to flatten the Covid-19 curve; at the same time there are many in our communities who are adversely impacted because of the ongoing lockdown. They are grappling with limited or no access to essential items, including food, for their families. As individuals & corporates, we have an opportunity to make a positive difference to their lives and provide access to nutritious food. We are all together in this fight against Covid-19 and I have faith that we will come through stronger and better”, said Samir Menon, Managing Director, KFC India.

KFC has partnered with ResponseNet to work with impacted communities in need across Delhi, Assam, Bangalore, Mumbai, Jharkhand and other states. ResponseNet will be disseminating kits of essential food and necessity items as rice, flour, pulses, cooking oil, spices, etc. in the identified regions. With growing uncertainty around the situation of Covid-19, these kits provide interim relief to the families.

 KFC India has also made the following commitments to support its people and communities during the ongoing pandemic.

Thanking frontline warriors - Healthcare workers: KFC is committed to serving more than 10,000 thank you KFC meals to healthcare workers at hospitals across Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

Employee well-being : Yum! Brands Foundation has set up the Global Employee Medical Relief Fund, to provide financial support for KFC team members at company and franchise-owned restaurants all across the world, who may be diagnosed with or who are caring for someone diagnosed with COVID-19.







Continuing to serve consumers through Safe & Contactless Delivery: Consumers can avail the Contactless Delivery option on prepaid orders, thereby ensuring no up-close contact with our delivery riders at the time of receiving the food, including exchange of cash.
