Under the banner of Vijay Antony Film Corporation and produced by Fatima Vijay Antony, the new film “Pookie”, starring Ajay Dhishan and directed by debutant Ganesh Chandra, was launched today with a traditional pooja ceremony. The film is set to be a youthful romantic comedy that will strongly appeal to the younger generation.

The pooja event was attended by several film personalities, including directors Vasanthabalan, Rathna Kumar, Oho Endhan Baby hero Rudra, cinematographer Sakthivel, and director Ram Mahendra, who all extended their wishes to the team.

The title “Pookie” is derived from an affectionate slang term today’s youngsters use to address each other, which also fits well into the film’s story and characters.

Cinematographer Ganesh Chandra, who made his mark with Vijay Antony’s blockbuster film Salim and worked on films like Jail, Kaari, and the Telugu film Miss Match, makes his directorial debut with Pookie.

Speaking about the theme, the director said:

“Unlike the older generation, today’s parents don’t usually object to their children falling in love – instead, the lovers themselves often create problems in their relationships. This film revolves around such 2K generation love stories, filled with humour, emotional drama, and an engaging screenplay, making it a lively rom-com.”

Ajay Dhishan, who impressed audiences with his performance in Maargan, plays the lead role. Dhanusha pairs opposite him as the heroine. The film also features Pandiarajan, Sunil, Indhumathi Manikandan, Vivek Prasanna, Black Pandi, Adithya Kathir, Bigg Boss Sathya, MJ Sriram, Sundara Travels Radha, Ashwin Ram, Shiyara Sharmi, Priyanka, and others in important roles.

Vijay Antony, who has been delivering successful films as a hero, is composing music for this film, much to the delight of his music fans.

The shooting of Pookie will take place in Chennai and Bengaluru, and is planned to be completed in a single schedule. More official updates about the film will be announced soon.
