 VELAMMAL'S CHESS CHAMPIONS DO IT FOR INDIA AGAIN

Chess prodigies of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Aynambakkam, D. Gukesh(Std IX) and Rakshitta Ravi(X) won the  Gold Medal in the (U-14 open) and (U-16 girls) category respectively at the FIDE Online World Cadets and Youth Rapid Chess Championships 2020, held recently. 

Rakshitta Ravi won against her opponent Song Yuxin from China to gain full points and D. Gukesh beat the Russian star youngster Volodar Murzin in the final round.

Kudos  to the champions for keeping the Indian Flag flying high. The School Management congratulates them on their magnanimous victory and wishes them success for their future endeavours.

 உலகளவில் சிறந்த சதுரங்கப் பயிற்சி  வீரர்களை இணையவழியில் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கும் 2020ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான  FIDE  உலகளாவிய இணையவழிப் பயிற்சி வீரர்கள் மற்றும் இளையோருக்கான விரைவு சதுரங்கப் போட்டிகள் சமீபத்தில் நடைபெற்றன. இப்போட்டியில் பங்கேற்ற
வேலம்மாள் வித்யாலயா, மேல் அயனம்பாக்கம் பள்ளியைச் சேர்ந்த சதுரங்க வீரர்களான

டி. குகேஷ் (வகுப்பு IX) மற்றும் ரக்ஷிட்டா ரவி (வகுப்பு X) ஆகியோர் முறையே
14-வயதிற்குட்பட்டோருக்கான திறந்த வெளிப் போட்டி  மற்றும் 16வயதிற்குட்பட்டோருக்கான பெண்கள் பிரிவு ஆகியவற்றில் கலந்து கொண்டு   தங்கப்பதக்கம் வென்றனர்.

 

இப்போட்டியில் ரக்ஷிட்டா ரவி தனது எதிராளியான சீனாவைச் சேர்ந்த சாங் யுக்சினுக்கு எதிராக முழுமையான புள்ளிகளைப் பெற்றும்
 டி. குகேஷ் தனது எதிராளியான  ருஷ்யாவின் இளைய நட்சத்திர  வீரர் வாளாடர் முர்ஷினை இறுதிச் சுற்றில் வீழ்த்தியும் உலகளவில் இந்தியக்  கொடியினை உயரமாகப் பறக்க வைத்து நாட்டிற்கும் வீட்டிற்கும் பள்ளிக்கும் பெருமை சேர்த்தனர். 

நினைவை விட்டு நீங்காத சாதனைகளைப் படைத்த சதுரங்க வீரர்களின் மகத்தான வெற்றியைப் பள்ளி நிர்வாகம்   வாழ்த்திப்போற்றியது. மற்றும் அவர்களின் எதிர்கால முயற்சிகளுக்கு தனது மேலான உதவிகளையும்
வழங்கும் முயற்சி மேற்கொண்டுள்ளது .

VELAMMAL’S CHILD PRODIGY WINS TITLE
AT CANNES OPEN CHESS TOURNEY

The 13- year old Grandmaster Gukesh D, Class 8  of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam campus   emerged champion  in the 34^th  Cannes Open in  Cannes, France on  22.2.2020 beating Harutyun  Bargseghyan  of the host nation  in the final round to end with 7.5 points.

Gukesh beat the Frenchman in 50 moves to emerge clear winner of this  tournament. 

He won his first open tournament, bagging  top honours in the Hillerod  110^th Anniversary open  event in  Denmark last week.  His brilliance and challenging checkmate made him climb up the higher ratings ladder of the tournament. The school management congratulates his immense potential for consistently creating historical achievements.
