Russian House in Chennai in association with Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation invites you to the ‘Days of Russian Cinema dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War’ on March 28 and March 29.
The event will feature three acclaimed Russian war films, offering a glimpse into the resilience and heroism of the Soviet people during World War II.
Mr. Alexander Dodonov, Director of Russian House in Chennai together with National Award Won Film Director Mr. Seenu Ramasamy will inaugurate the festival in the august presence of Mrs. Poornima Bhagyaraj, Cine Artist who will light the lamp. Mr. Sivan Kannan, President of ICAF will preside over the function and Mr. Anand Rengasamy, Vice President of ICAF will give the welcome address.
Entry is FREE, and all films will be screened with English subtitles.
Friday, March 28 – 6:00 PM (Age: 16+)
‘The Destiny of a Man’ (1959) – A Soviet soldier, Andrei Sokolov, dreams of reuniting with his family after World War II, but fate has other plans. Alone and heartbroken, he finds solace in his work as a truck driver far from home.
Saturday, March 29 – 5:00 PM (Age: 18+)
‘White Tiger’ (2012) – Set during the Great Patriotic War, this gripping war drama follows Red Army Sergeant Ivan Naydenov as he becomes obsessed with destroying a mysterious, ghostly-white Tiger tank.
Saturday, March 29 – 7:00 PM (Age: 18+)
‘On the Road to Berlin’ (2015) – Based on Emmanuil Kazakevich’s novella ‘Two in the Steppe’ and the war diaries of Konstantin Simonov, this film features Russian actor Yura Borisov, the first Russian actor nominated for an Oscar.
